In this episode of The Short-Term Show, host Avery welcomes Daniel Ramsey, CEO of My Out Desk, to discuss how virtual assistants can revolutionize the real estate industry and short-term rental businesses. Daniel shares his journey from hiring his first assistant to creating a successful company, helping entrepreneurs and real estate professionals leverage their time. Tune in to hear how delegation and smart business decisions can free up your time—whether you’re in the hospitality industry or handling short-term rentals.
Avery: Welcome to another episode of the Short-Term Show! Today, we have a really cool guest. I want to clarify, this is not an advertisement, but rather, someone I’ve known for a long time. Mr. Daniel Ramsey, how are you doing today?
Daniel: I’m doing fantastic, Avery. Thanks for having me! I’m super excited to be here, and I love your show. Thank you for having me on!
Avery: Well, we love having you on, Daniel! Tell us a little bit about yourself and My Out Desk.
Daniel: Sure! So, I’m a real estate guy, and I also own hotels. I’ve been in the hospitality business for some time. Back in 2007, I hired my first virtual assistant. You know, I didn’t really know what I was doing. I just needed help in my business. I was super busy, and hiring a virtual assistant turned out to be a game-changer.
Avery: Wow, that’s quite the journey. So, how did it grow from hiring a virtual assistant to building a business around it?
Daniel: Funny enough, it wasn’t something planned. Back then, we didn’t have Zoom, and Skype was really the only tool available. We didn’t have the cool tools we do today. I hired my first virtual assistant and was floored by how efficient it made my business. It worked so well that I turned it into a business.
Avery: Amazing! I think our audience, especially short-term rental investors, might really connect with this. We all have businesses that demand our time, and virtual assistance could really make a difference.
Daniel: Exactly! Especially in real estate. It’s not a 9-to-5; we’re at the mercy of when our clients are off work. Virtual assistants can take on tasks so you can focus on growing your business. It’s almost like the 4-Hour Work Week—you get to choose how and when to spend your time.
Avery: So, what would you say is the most valuable aspect of having a virtual assistant?
Daniel: The biggest value is delegation. Running a business is like snowboarding a mountain—you’ve got to navigate through the tough parts. I was just snowboarding with my wife in Tahoe, and she was tackling black diamonds, which were tough, but you push through. Delegation helps you push through those hard parts in business.
