Risk Management Strategies with Leo Walton
In this episode of the Short-Term Show, host Avery welcomes Leo Walton from Superhog. Leo discusses his experience in the short-term rental industry since 2012, his journey from One Fine Stay to Superhog, and the mission of Superhog to make rental transactions safer. He also shares personal tidbits, like his love for Manchester United and life with his daughter, Sadie.
Avery: Hey y’all, welcome back to another episode of the short-term show. Today, we have, I think, our third or fourth guest from across the pond, Leo Walton with Superhog!
Leo: Hogs! So, a lot of you may be familiar with Superhog already. It might be new to some of you, so we’re going to learn all about exactly what Superhog does today.
Avery: Hi Leo! How’s it going?
Leo: Well, thank you, Avery. I’m honored and privileged to be here and speaking with you again. It’s been a few months, hasn’t it?
Avery: Yeah, life’s good, awesome! Well, thanks so much for coming on.
Leo: Well, yeah, I mean, I think from that point of view, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to speak to our American cousins! I’m always happy to do it.
Avery: Awesome! Well, let’s start at the beginning. Why don’t you tell us a little bit about yourself first and then a little about what Superhog does?
Leo: Sure, yeah. So, I’m a short-term rental veteran, if we can use that term, relatively speaking, of course. I’ve been in the industry since 2012, based here in London. My first job in the industry was with a company called One Fine Stay, which you’ve probably heard of. At the time, we were quite a small London property manager with big dreams to scale globally, and we did it. I was part of the team that helped build that out and helped get it sold to the Aqua Hotel Group. From there, I went on to Superhog, and I’m a junkie for the industry! I love it.
Avery: That’s awesome.
Leo: The best thing about my day-to-day is that I get to speak to hosts of all different sizes, people who take it very seriously. They’re super professional and working to scan and grow their businesses, and we’re just here to help them do that and grow correctly and safely. When I’m not working, I’m either watching Man United, my beloved football team, or looking after my 18-month-old daughter, Sadie. I’m busy!
Avery: Yeah, I hear you! I hear you! Alright, so tell us a little bit about Superhog.
Leo: Sure. So, Superhog exists to ensure that transactions in the short-term rental space are safe. We help mitigate the risks of letting someone into a property that you’ve never met before. You know, making sure bookings happen safely and securely.
